Winter Strikes Back

Rowan leaves

Rowan leaves that are just coming out against a back-drop of the snow we got last night. In Finnish we have this term takatalvi that literally means rear-winter. It’s used to describe the time when spring and summer take a step back and we get a hint of winter, just like the snow last night and cold weather front we’re currently experiencing.

Spring light

Trees and sky

While waiting for the rain, the evening light spotlights some parts of the scenery leaving other parts in the gloom.

This picture has quite a bit more manipulation than is usual. To boost the colors a bit a played around with the TLR Velvia actions in Photoshop. I kind of like the end result. At least it matches what I saw.

Puppyness

A flatcoated puppy

If yesterday’s image was adolescence, this is definitely puppyness. A five week old flatcoated retriever puppy carrying a duck wing. We spent the day shooting a friend’s dogs and the puppies they have, so dog pictures were only pictures taken today.
