Well. Finally I got everything that I needed done to finalize the upgrade to WordPress 1.5 (Beta 1). The new theme system is wonderful, as is the possibility to create pages that are out of the blog sequence. The archives and colophon are examples of plain pages.

Upgrading…
I’m in the process of upgrading WordPress to the Beta’s of version 1.5. Hopefully it’ll get done over the weekend and I can give you some insight into the process then.
I’m really looking forward to the new theme engine and the ability to manage non-post pages. These should be especially useful for a few work related projects I’ve got going on. We’ll see. But now I’m going back to hacking with code.
Update 7.1.2005 17:28 I just deleted a comment accidentally as comment spam. If you left it, please post it again.
The all new blog…
Here we go. A weekend of active hacking with CSS and some fiddling with WordPress and the new blog is ready to go. The imported entries from MovableType still have missing images, archives don’t have their own template, the blogroll is incomplete, etc. But the core functionality is here. The old MT installation is still up and running, I’ll have to create the redirects tonight.
As noted in the colophon, the site has been tested in Firefox 1.0 (and earlier) and IE 6. If you test it with any other browser and notice problems, please inform me (ramin at fierymill dot net). That’s it for now. Now back to work!
Redesigning…
Following the footsteps of many, I’m in the process of redesigning the blog. At the same time, it’ll move from the fierymill hierarchy to its own subdomain and transfer from MT to WordPress. In the wake of the redesign several new features should start appearing in the blog and the fierymill site in general. Things may be a bit silent for a while…
Photoblog navigation
Inspired by Dunstan’s post on photoblog navigation and the ensuing discussion, I made some changes to the way The Life of Jalo works. The code was uploaded sometime – much too late – last night, so if you frequent LoJ you might have already noticed them.
