This weblog is the brainchild of Ramin, a web developer, CS researcher, and fire fighter. He lives in the eastern reaches of Finland with his wife, Anna, and their menagerie. The topics covered
here will range from various web development and information technology issues,
various hacks and guides, photography, dogs, and whatnot.
The blog is powered by WordPress. It was powered by Movable Type, but my familiarity with PHP prompted the switch to WP. The
templates and code have been edited in Emacs and all image manipulations have been done with the GIMP running on Linux.
The site has been tested with Firefox 1.0 (and earlier on Linux and Windows) and Internet Explorer 6 (Windows). If you experience any problems with the layout, please inform me at ramin at fierymill dot net. The site is valid XHTML and CSS. Some individual entries might not validate, generally intentionally and to prove a point.
The image used as the background is the result of a fire in the countryside, about 10 kilometres from the nearest fire station and out of direct sight of the nearest neighbors. By the time we got to the scene, the second story of the house was already in flames. Luckily the house had been abandoned for ten years or so.
