IE, floats and tables

Another bug in IE’s handling of floated content. This time with tables being the culprit. Naturally, a workaround is discussed.

Had an interesting morning fixing layout bugs in IE again. Yesterday, before I left work I fixed our intranet site to use floats instead of absolute positioning. IE had its own share of bugs, but that was to be expected.

Mobile phone firmware updates

Some notes on how backing up the data on your (Nokia) mobile phone has gotten better. And how much further we still need to go before upgrades are really usable.

I recently updated the firmware on my work phone. It isn’t that first time I’ve done it and it won’t be the last. And it seems like I face the same problems and issues every time. Well, not quite so. In the following I’ll walk through how things have changed since my first firmware update in 1998 (to a Nokia 8110i).

This topic has been on my mind for some time now, I just haven’t had the time to write about it. The way phones ring has changed significantly in the last ten to twenty years. I think everyone who will read this remembers when the only types of ringtones you heard were variations of *ring-ring*. Well, now times have changed, and not without problems.
