Game shot

In honor of the hunting season that started a week ago, this could have been a game shot. Well, except for the fact that it’s a female with chicks (unethical to hunt) and the fact that the hunting season for black grouse starts in September.

When Anna first saw this bird, it was about five metres from the cabin window where we were staying. My opening the door caused them to move out of the open, the chicks ran along the ground into the forest while the mother flew up into a pine.
